The Artists Guide to Making Money

Limited Edition Art Zine

An exciting, decidedly eccentric, relentlessly well-crafted, and not without hope of being lucrative venture — The Artist's Guide series. The Artist's Guide is a topic-driven art journal produced by Matt Cassity and Sam Spratlin.

Only a 1000 copies are made. You've got to order yours now.

Printed all in two colors (black and this crazy bright green), it shows the amazing creativity that can occur with just two colors and 6 x 9" of space.

This is an amazing collection of art; with all that "advertising" stuff on the cover. So crack it open, and enjoy.

Disclaimer: Do not expect any actual advice, tips, or tricks for making money.

The Artists Within:
(as described in the Artist Guide's own words) Andy Rementer is in Italy at Benetton’s Fabrica. I think he used to live in Brooklyn since I see his stickers and drawings on various bathroom walls. He was the first to submit his artwork (and it's great!). Andy updates his website often.

Fighting is Niall McClelland and Lukas Geronimas in Canada. We first saw them on the sketchel project and checked out their site. We were blown away by their amazing lettering and textures. They've done a lot of cool work.

Jessica Lynch lives on an island in Washington state. We e-mailed each other years ago and traded some prints. She sells the best shirts you can get on the net at www.slowshirts.com (act quick—they always sell out).

Marcus Oakley lives in London and enjoys listening to the Beach Boys and drinking tea. Recently he's building creatures out of scraps of wood. He's nice and agreeable. He's got a band, a portfolio, and a blog.

August Heffner keeps his home in Brooklyn and keeps his work in NYC. Before he lived in Brooklyn he lived in Kansas, and before that in Missouri. If your in Seattle, check out his show. He's in constant motion.

French is from England and used to live with us in Kansas. We had a good time running around town drinking and destroying things. He lives in London now and draws like a madman. His website declares death to false metal.

Kate Bingaman
is an Asst. Professor at Mississippi State University. After loading up her credit cards in grad school, she meticously re-creates the statements until they are paid off. You can check on her dwindling debt here.

Gunsho lives and works in Providence, Rhode Island. His drawngs and prints are unbelievable. You should buy some — we just got five in the mail! Take a look at gunsho.com.

Nato Thompson is an activist and curator, and sometimes a curator of activists. He recently wrote a column on the color yellow. Nato is consistently improving his stand-up routine.

Dave Jaklevic has shaped young minds at the University of Oregon for the past 2 years. He recently located himself outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Colby Chamberlain
is a self-described gadabout as well as Managing Editor at another magazine. He's recently written about poor shaving and politics.

Also featuring Todd Hippensteel, Dan Funderburgh, and Kate Williams.
