Yikes! The days are getting shorter. It looks like summer's going to end, like, any minute now. With August just about over, we're gearing up for fall. We've added a bunch of new items, and are stocking up on our perennial favorites.
Nikki's calendars have become a staple in kitchens, offices and schools. Each image is an original papercut, cut from a single piece of paper. New in our ever-growing library of books and magazines: We know we've been known to sell a few shirts in our day, but did you know it is pretty easy to make them yourself. Do-It-Yourself Screenprinting is a great way to start. Then there's the amazing Pat Graham photography book featuring office-favorites Modest Mouse, Bikini Kill and Fugazi. ABC Spookshow is an amazingly illustrated, spooky children's ABC book. And Keri Smith's Guerilla Art Kit is a complete how-to on art as activism. Check out all our books. Also check out new issues of Plan B, Rivet, Venus and MF Magazine, and sadly the last ever Punk Planet.
Are you ready to rock, but wish to do so in a stylish, yet sophisticated way? These handmade, padded guitar straps are an exciting addition to your rock ensemble. Time to get organized: We've already told you about Nikki's 2008 Calendar, but we've also got great new organizers and planners for today, '08 and beyond from Jill Bliss and Little Otsu. There's work from John Porcellino, Keri Smith, Milky Elephant, Jennie Smith and more. Also a new one from letterpress' finest Sherwood Press. Check out all our cards and calendars.
We're excited to welcome Sam McPheeters to the buyoly family. Albany boy. Ex-Born Against. Part-time orator. Mister big shot. Look at him, struttin' around. Mister big man. And now, something for the kids: We've got a bunch of new items for kids, perfect for gifting or just surprising. There's really rad flash cards in both Spanish and French that we think are suitable for adults as well. New shoes from See Kai Run and a batch of new bibs from Homespun Goods. Check out the rest of our growing kids department.
The incredibly soft Baby Magnet receiving blankets will instantly attract your little one, providing a tender and loving place for them to be received into. The things you can do with paper, nowadays: We've got coasters galore going on from Brooklyn-based Sesame Letterpress. New notepads from The Sherwood Press, and a sweet, pocketable grid notbook from Jason Munn. So much recycled paper we've saved a whole forest.
Take the best elements of a classic navy pea coat (the buttons, the styling, the weight) and mix them into a modern-day, ever-so-popular hoodie, and what do you get? The new Peahoodie by Abigail Adams. Stay clean with style and class: We restocked our amazing collection of Arcana Soaps, introducing four new scents (I lovingly refer to them as flavors) at the same time.
Lisa Drummer's DIY guide to drumming is back. She's re-done it again, and it is the best looking version yet. Includes a drum-a-long CD. Hand illustrated. Thanks for reading our newsletter.
