Green Cosmos is the hidden gem in Deerhoof's impressive catalog. This EP is full of exploration and surprise, no two songs sounding alike, and yet it remains completely controlled. The title track is a dancey number full of big beats and synth-pop. From there they smoothly glide from the shaking rhythm of "Byun" to the jazzy "Hot Mint Air Balloon." "Koneko Kitten" is the gentle stunner. The second side kicks off with an explosion.

"Come See the Duck" is a large, cheerful rocker. "Malalauma" is the pleasing psychedelic dream-like tune that leads you to the trippy atmosphere of "Spiral Golden Town." Deerhoof make music interesting and fun, and this EP is the perfect illustration of their art.
